How to update schedule ship date on all overdue internal orders through API

The need is for our users to be able to update either the scheduled shipment date or scheduled arrival date of overdue internal orders so that the supply and ATP are correct --do I use the Update_PO API to accomplish this or the OM Process_Order API or some other means?
