Linux print queue disabled when printer runs out of paper

edited Jul 2, 2010 7:44PM in Linux Operating System (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered
We have around 80 printers attached to our corporate network. Many are HPLJ with JetDirect network connections. It seems any kind of disturbance to a print job will invariably disable the printer queue on the linux side.

Our users, running on EBS, can only note that no print jobs are coming out. They can't log on to the linux server and see the backed up print jobs nor give the "enable" command so it can continue printing.

What have other administrators done to keep the printers printing during these situations?

Thanks
