Report Manager - Is Web ADI mandatory? Experiences using Repoort Manager

Hi, We are on 11i and are currently looking at ways of running different types of reports from one area. I understand Report Manager is a repository for running reports and accessing reports output. I hear that users need to be using web ADI in order to use Report Manager. Is that correct?

Also, I would be interested to hear from anybody who has used/is using Report Manager with their experiences. What are the drawbacks?
