AWE_MEMORY_WINDOW Settings and "number of map misses/number of map operations"

I'm in a Windows environment trying to optimize memory usage.  We are on Windows 32 bit W2K and W2K3 boxes with 10.2.0.3/4.  I have followed the recommendations for AWE in Document 225349.1

I did the math from the document and found that my AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY should be 512MB.  However, it's currently set to 420MB.  The document says that I should have gotten an error because it's too small based on the formula.  Is there a way to tell on Windows how much memory is being used for AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY?  Should I have gotten an error?  I'm left to assume that I either don't have AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY set to the rigth place in the registry or Oracle doesn't care that it's too small or both.

Howdy, Stranger!
