Public synonyms are not seen by normal users - Oracle 9iR2

 Hi,
Dear community:

We have a 10GB database Oracle 9iR2 v. 9.2.0.1.0  installed on solaris 10, 8 GB RAM, and quite enough hard disk space.  Yesterday we created a new table, created a public synonym to it, created a role for this table (insert, update, select, update), granted this rol to a user, but when this user tries to access this table through the synonym name, we've got an error:  ora-00942.

We've searched metalink and found out that a patch set might correct this bug - is it a bug?, we have no problem before yesterday, we've doing everything at hand to resolve it, but no luck.
