Restore Database mising datafile

Hello all,

I have the following issue. I made a backup of my database. After the backup was made a new data file was added to my database. Now i cannot restore my database from my backup because it is saying that the file is not to be found in my backup. How do i proceed? It is safe to drop the datafile and then restore from my backup?
