Steps to have a single node running on a rac environment

 Hi
i am new to this rac environment, i have a customer and he wants to have the single node up and to shutdown the other instance. so pls shed ur ideas on how to perform this on a rac environment. i have two nodes and with two instances running a1(instance) and a11(instance)  on two different nodes
