objects name limit of 30 chars

Does any one out there knows if the old fashion limit is about to be raised to something more convinient ? Time has passed from when the 30 chars were sufficient to describe the names of tables, indexes, foreign keys etc. Oracle from version 7 or earlier ( i don't remember  ... ) has the same limit to name its objects. Times have changed , the world has changed but the anachronistic limit remains. Does Oracle  plan to include such a change into future versions? If there are many of us please help for Oracle to make this desicion.
