Accessing database performance history

 Hello all,

I'm trying to develop an OEM report that would produce a graph or buffer cache, sga and other rati os over a given time period.  This would be a good tool to compare performance before and after an application release for example.

OEM will send alerts if metric thresholds for these items are reached but I cannot see how to view the metric history. 

Can someone show me how to increase the snapshot frequency, increase the retention period and tell me where (maybe how) to extract the data from (DBA_HIST_???) ?
