How to come up with the correct Fiscal year from sysdate if it is not matched to calender year?

Hi there,

This question has been puzzling me for awhile. 

Our fiscal year is from Oct to Sept and for any given date, I need to come up with a correct Fiscal year.  For instance, when it is Oct-09, it should show fiscal year = 2010, but for Aug-09, it should be 2009.  The same way for all the years.

Someone must have dealt with this situation before.  So I really appreciate it if you can share the SQL script with me.
