Creating CIP assets for the same task, different date placed in service

Is there a way to create multiple assets per task on a capital project?  We have a group that wants to create a capital project for software development.  Everytime they put more code in service, they want to capitalize the costs.  These costs may all be associated with the same task but will have different placed in service dates.  They usually create the asset right before they place in service, therefore they wouldn't define the assets ahead of time.  Is this possible?  Right now the way we have setup the capital projects, there is only one asset per task(unless there are multiple
