Merge Incremental Backup

 Hello,

we are taking daily full rman backup to tape (using tivoli storage manager). now we want to implement incremental backup.

I want to know can we merge incremental backup in full backup(full backup is on LTO3 Tape) directly or full backup copy is required on OS to merge incremental backup.
