Creating template from FSG report for Report Manager - hidden columns

 I am trying to create a template from an FSG report with columns which are not displayed. If I do not make changes to the spreadsheet created from the FSG report when creating the template, I get a report in Excel format displaying 3 extra columns.

If I try to create another template and hide the 3 columns in the spreadsheet before uploading and over-writing teh existing template, I can view the report in PDF and Html with the correct detail in rows and columns but viewing the report in Excel format, the rows do not display teh detail and no data appears in teh spreadsheet.
