Hi all,

** Oracle is currently working on an SR on this topic, while we are diagnosing the problem we are opening up this
question to our user community so they can add perspective to the solution based on their real world experience **

We had a strange situation on IBM aix v5.3L and RDBMS 10.2.0.3 on an IBM Power CPU with 64GB of RAM and 12GB of
swap. We inadvertently set our instance sga_max_size to 300G (meant to set it to 30G).  The instance started
anyway and "show sga" in sqlplus and the AIX "ipcs -mb" command showed that the whole 300GB instance was

Howdy, Stranger!
