Oracle Names Server with 10gR2?

All,
my boss has asked me if we could replace our central tnsnames.ora (used with TNS_ADMIN on all posts) with the Oracle Names Server.

I think this product however has been retired for Oracle Directory Server, but I can't find a simple document on how to configure this. Can someone help?
