Identifying ASM Devices from the OS

We've run into situations where the SA assumes a device belonging to ASM is available and reallocates it for another use. They use OS utilities (e.g. on AIX lspv) to identify available devices.  They have requested a utility that can (at a minimum) list out ASM devices.  We have noticed two utilities, kfod and kfed, that can list and identify ASM devices.  Would it make sense for the SAs to use these utilities to identify ASM devices?
