Listener problems

edited May 16, 2010 11:00PM in Database Networking (MOSC) 5 commentsAnswered ✓
I am running Oracle 10.2 on a HP-UX server.  About once a month the listener will hang and not let users connect to the database.  It also looks like it starts another session of the listener (below).  I am unable to stop the listener and have to kill it and then restart it.  I don't see any errors in the alert logs or the listener logs.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

During the problem:

$ ps -ef | grep lsn
  oracle 29403 23605  0 01:31:23 ?         0:00 /usr/oracle/app/oracle/product/1
0.2/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit
  oracle 23605     1  0  Apr 16  ?        87:45 /usr/oracle/app/oracle/product/1
0.2/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit
  oracle  1816  1780  1 03:01:33 pts/td    0:00 grep lsn

Howdy, Stranger!
