Does having the AGENT_HOME wrong in the .profile can affect the functionality of the agent?

The agent was working fine, but I notice that the .profile had a typo in the AGENT_HOME path.  Is this important?
What is the importance of having the AGENT_HOME  correctly spelled in the .profile, apart of me working with starting/ stopping the agent inside the server ?
