Archive Purge Alert Log job?

When I create a "Archive Purge Alert Log" job with the archive and purge greater than 7 days, the alert log ends up with 0 entries (that doesn't seem correct, but I'll fiddle with it a bit).  

My real question is where does it archive the data from the alert log?
