Spatial 11.2.0.1 Java performance

 Hi!
We've a serious Oracle Spatial Java performance problem on a fresh new sytem. The details:
- host: Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 (2.6.18-164.el5), Intel x86-64 (4 CPU / 8 core), 32 GB memory, 16 GB swap
- Oracle DB: 11.2.0.1 for Linux x86-64 + patch 9524394 (bundle #3) with a stand-alone Grid 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) ASM environment
- memory parameters: sga_target=4G, pga_aggretage_target=4G
- dba_registry shows all installed products are valid
- The DB has been created with the installer's DBCA, and Spatial and APEX are selected for autoinstall (both went on without any problem).

The database+ASM combo works like a breeze, fast as lightning... except any Spatial functions involving Java, like:
