How does setting of SHMMAX Kernel parameter work with EBS Application Usage

   Hi,

I want to understand what role does kernal parameters play in an EBS install, and how is it used on going after the install is complete, and the application is running. I am interesterd mainly in finding out how the kernal memory (SHMMAX) parameter is used on an going basis.

I have a EBS application server with R12 (12.0.6) on Sun solaris SPARC 64 bit. I have 16GB of total physical RAM on the server and 10GB of Virtual (swap) memory. The EBS installation user is 'applmgr'. The kernal parameter for shmmax is set at 8gb (using projects for solaris) for the applmgr user. Now my questions are:
