Sending messages for PL/SQL procedure Jobs

 I have a PL/SQL stored procedure that is configured as a job from the Oracle scheduler. I see the event handlers like when the job starts, finishes or fails etc.
I need to send out alerts ( email messages ) when the job starts, ends , fails etc. I will appreciate it much, if anybody who has done similar set up can share the process.
Also I was looking for documentation on this.
