Questions about Real Time Apply - Standby logs on the primary and the use of LGWR

Hello:

All hardware is AIX 5.3.  This is a four-node RAC 10.2.0.4 database managed by +ASM, also 10.2.0.4.  I am in the process of creating a standby on node 1 of my DR cluster, also managed by +ASM 10.2.0.4.  May I ask?

1.  If standby logs are added only to the standby but not to the primary, will Real Time Apply work?  Why or why not?

2.  If LGWR is not set explicitly (as the transmitter) in the relelated log_archive_dest_n, will ARCH still write to the standby logs on the standby side?  The last DBA set this value for the service archive destination:

log_archive_dest_2=service=mdmp0_dr valid_for=(online_logfiles,primary_role) db_unique_name=mdmp0

Howdy, Stranger!
