Cleanup old versions prior to upgrade

 Is there a method to determine what UBE versions are not being used and delete those versions?  For example, the client wants to determine what versions they are not using and delete those versions so they are not brought forward during the upgrade merge.  In other words, clean-out unused versions on the old release prior to upgrading to the new release.  Any tips or tools to accomplish this analysis?
