-bash: ulimit: open files: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted
Greetings!
I am working on OEL 5.5. I am logging in with a user account and get "-bash: ulimit: open files: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted". I believe it's because I have a setting in the .bash_profile that violates the limit (ulimit -n = 1024). The .bash_profile follows with the server-specific information XXXX'd out. I'm new to Linux and Internet searches have resulted in a wide variety of files to edit and, since I am so new to Linux, I thought I'd give this a shot. Please tell me what information I failed to provide and I will provide it.
