How to Change from RMAN catalog to RMAN nocatalog.

 I have some 9i databases that use an RMAN catalog for backup.  Because of some issues this RMAN catalog database is going to be unavailable.

Can I just execute RMAN with the NOCATALOG option and create a backup without unregistering it from the catalog?  The information will be placed in the controlfile correct?

If I later use RMAN with the CATALOG for a backup will everything be OK?  I would most likely not go back to the catalog but thought I'd ask.
