Deleting Asset Records for disabled Depreciation Book

We are in the process of reimplementing Oracle Assets and would like to start with a clean slate:  setting up new structures for the key flexfields, new categories, everything.  Obviously, setting up new structures for the key flexfields with new segment values is going to cause my old asset records to become invalid.  We don't want the old records anyway.  The question is, has anyone completely reimplemented Oracle Assets from scratch and deleted the old records?  If so, what did you do?  We do not post journals from assets and we don't interface from AP.
