Can 10g Patch Set Updates be used with 11i environment?

I am currently using 10.2.0.3 for the Oracle Home for 11i EBS database.  I want to apply 10.2.0.4, then apply 10.2.0.4.4 Patch  Set Update.  The Interoperability note 362203.1 lists interoperability patches that include Critical Patch Updates.  I have read that database CPUs should not be mixed with PSUs.  PSUs seem much easier.  Can I use PSUs on the 10g database home with 11i?  And if so, should I still apply the interoperability patches that include CPUs?
