What is the best choice for catalog RMAN

 Hi,

We want to use RMAN to backup (and restore) our databases. We have about 500 databases. We choose to use a recovery catalog.

our database versions are 8iR3,9iR2,10GR2 & 11GR1.

can we use a 11gR2 recovery catalog to backup all these versions ? Or can i create one catalog per version ?

Is one catalog enough to rule our 500 databases ?

Have-you some advices , best practices , ....?
