Matrix Item - All with the same item descriptions!

Hi,

I have created a matrix item and has generated many child items. Upon generation, the child item adopts the description from the parent item which is very generic. It is very time consuming to change the child item description one at a time. Is it possible to use matrix item setup to generate multiple child items with having different item descriptions based on the generated child item.  Is this doable? Or are there any quick method to update the child item descriptions ?
