Size of OLTP compressed tables when backed up *without* RMAN compression

edited Jun 11, 2010 8:47AM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered
Let's say I have an OLTP compressed table that is 10GB uncompressed, 4GB compressed.

I backup the table using an RMAN script that specifies *no* compression.  With the resulting size of the backup be ~10GB, or ~4GB?

In other words, does the dump/extract/read of the OLTP compressed table being done by RMAN do decompression or is there some other integration between table compression and RMAN?

Thanks much,

Tom
