How to limit expenditure type displayed in LOV when entering expenditure batch

we're on R12.0.4 and have many expenditure types - some of which are not appropriate choices for specific projects.  We are using transaction control by expenditure category to narrow down the allowable choices, but find that the unallowed expenditures types still display as an option in the lov when entering expenditure details.  This allows a user to select the incorrect expenditure type and continue until the transaction is saved at which time they receive an error.  It would be preferred if the disallowed expenditure types (those not assigned to the expenditure category in the transaction controls for the project) are
