account generator question in 11i

 We are upgrading from 11.0.3 to 11.5.10.2 and are having problem with the account generator (we think).  In 11.0.3, when a user runs generate accounts, or runs depreciation, when the process comes across an account combination which is not active, an error is written to the log.  In 11.5.10.2, we see no errors and no successes.  I tested this by taking a known good account combination in 11.5.10.2 and deactivating it, then ran account generator and depreciation.  I have a TAR open with Oracle and they say the generator is working correctly, but I do not think so, based upon my experience with it in 11.0.3.
