Q : R12 FA Asset Category Setup

Dear Experts ,
            In R12 Assets module , some account setting at Asset Category  level .
            Does anyone know  what the account setting is used for ?             For example [Unplanned Depreciation Expense] , [Alternate Asset Cost] and [Write-Off Expesne] .
            Thanks for any response or reference in advance .
