GC 11g repository database opens a lot of connections

I'm just wondering if someone else noticed this but at the moment I'm typing this message my GC repository database has 459 open connections to the database of which about 440 are with the SYSMAN user. They're all coming from the linux server so it's probably weblogic etc... which opens them.
Is this normal? This looks like a lot and I didn't remember 10g having a this high amount of open sessions. A few days ago my database was even blocked for new sessions and afterwards I updated the processes parameter to 800 just to be sure.
Are there any known bugs with GC 11g on this topic? I haven't found anything on Metalink until now.
