Grid Control install on Windows 2008 is not working

I am trying to do an install on windows 2008 server but am having no success.

The server is a new virtual machine created specifically for Grid Control. It has Windows 2008 installed, Simpana backup sofware and nothing else.

When I try installing Grid Control with the repository as part of the installation, it fails on the OMS configuration but does not give any particular error message and there is nothing in the logs.  I have done this install a number of times now, and there is a TNS adapter error early on, but informaiton regarding this does not appear in the logs. Looking at the repositiory installation, it says successful although it is a worry. I tried various things such as removing IP6 localhost name from the hosts file. Nothing avoided the TNS communicaiton errors.

Howdy, Stranger!
