Oracle Linux X64 - Patch Management for Oracle DB servers

Hi
we are new to Linux and have a 2 node 10g RAC R2 on Oracle Linux X64 5.x up and running for the last 6 months
we would like to know what is the patching mechanism of Oracle Linux? How often a patch is released?
Are there any best practices document available out there for managing linux patches on oracle server (RAC)
What is the frequency of oracle patch release? Do we need to install it right away? After the patch, do we need
to relink the oracle binaries?


For example, when windows come out with patches, (e.g critical patches) we need to install it right away and
