ASMLib - Advantages

Hi,

Can someone please briefly explain what is the function / advantage of using ASMLib (for 11g RAC with ASM)
we know that it is available for Linux O/S but not very sure if it is available on Windows
If it is not available on windows, then does that mean that whatever the advantages / benefits are of using asmlib, cannot be had on Windows platform?
Does this mean that not having AsmLib on Windows gives an advantage /edge to Linux as the preferred O/S for 11g RAC with ASM
