HOW TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF MAJOR CATEGORIES A USER CAN SEE BASED ON RESPONSIBILITIES

How can I limit categories a user can see on the asset workbench based on his/her responsibilities?

We tried form personalization but did not succeed.
