Oracle on VMWARE/vsphere - has anyone any experience with?

 Hi,

We are dealing with a situation where our architect area wants us to put our Oracle databases onto VMWARE, but according to Oracle they do not support or certify it. VMWARE is stating there are 100s of customers using vmware with Oracle, but we have yet to receive any one company name.
 
Does anyone out there know of any customers using vmware for any of their production Oracle databases? We have very large databases anywhere from 200 - 3200gb databases with very high i/o and web facing. We are very concerned with doing this as we've only heard of horror stories and nothing good as yet. Has anyone experienced Oracle on vmware, especially their production databases, and can you share the good and bad points? I know one of the main good points is cost/floor savings, but is it worth it?
