GATHER_STATS_JOB Not Gathering Stats

We've recently noticed that the nightly GATHER_STATS_JOB doesn't seem to be hitting tables it should.  We have had it set up with all the defaults that come with 10g.  Would there be any initialization parameters that would affect this?  I've been view the job and optimizer statistics setup in Grid Control.
