Functional difference between different quotation types.

 Hello,
I would like to know what is the functional difference between standard, catalog and bid quotations. Is there any difference in these types from application point of view.

Also we have a client requiring tendering feature. Can anyone help me from there experience how to implement this requirement when the quoted amount exceeds 100k the client publishes a tender with all details of terms and conditions on its website.
