Which version of the downgrade instructions to use?

I am currently in the process of upgrading from Oracle 9.2.0.8 to Oracle 11.2 and need to write up instructions just in case downgrading to the previous version becomes necessary. Since I will be downgrading 2 version (from Oracle 11g to Oracle 9i) - which set up downgrade instructions would I use - the 10g version or the 11g version (there are a few diferences between the downgrade steps for the 2 versions?  

If I have to downgrade, will I actually be able to downgrade 2 versions or will I only be able to downgrade one version?

Also, where would I find out which patches would have to be installed before starting my upgrade to Oracle 11g? I have looked,  but can't seem to find any information.
