Network best practices

 Hi Gurus,

I am off on another adventure.  My manager wants me to change the protection level to maximum availability.  I am tuning sqlnet and other network type traffic.  there are some changes to make with no guidelines.  we are IA64 RHEL4 and I have a few questions if anyone has some time;

1. the MAA white paper on network best practices has a lot of changes this one is about the TXQUEUELENGTH and NET_DEV_MAX_BACKLOG are increased.  I love how it states to increase it with no guidelines.  does anyone have any information on how to increase it?
