I have an EMC RAID group that is RAID 1 with 2 - 450 GB drives that are mirrored.

From this RAID group 2-LUNS are presented to the host: 1-50 GB and 1-350 GB.

The 50 GB LUN has one file system on it - the Oracle home.

The other LUN has one file system on it which is Oracle archive.

Both file systems are JFS2.

What I'm seeing from the AIX side using SAR reports is that Oracle home is constantly busy. I monitor the disk interactively and it only does reads/writes in burst because as it's 100% busy.

The Oracle archive never reaches 50% utilization.
