How to get a BOM report from the PDX or aXML files?

I have been testing exporting multi level BOMs with attachments to PDX and aXML files. I do not see a way to view the BOM is a usable format once exported. I am using PDX Explorer for the PDX file and I am opening in the xml in a zip folder and using the default xml view. I am not familiar with the xml format.
