Creating two Branch/Plant (Divisons) from what previously was one...

We have been operating our company with two Branch/Plant codes - one covering all manufacturing (HAD) and one covering allocable expense items (MRO).  We have two distinct divisions, each with their own manufacturing facilities, purchasing staffs, and readily distinguishable sales staffs.  We will call one Industrial and the other Rail.

Because we currently cannot distinguish manufacturing costs and variances for the two divisions currently treated as one, I believe the best way to do so is to create a seperate Branch/Plant code for the Rail division.

So, I am wondering if anyone has experience subdividing Branch/Plant, what it takes and what pitfalls I might have to look out for.  Also, does anybody know of a JDE document which addresses the pocess in which I am about to participate?

Howdy, Stranger!
