Ora 1555

 I am getting the ORA 1555 in 10.20.4 RAC env 

ORA-01555 caused by SQL statement below (SQL ID: gv72v5csjsxyw, Query Duration=1035 sec, SCN: 0x0002.60cd77d4):

while undo setting are

undo_management                      string      AUTO
undo_retention                       integer     3500
undo_tablespace                      string      UNDOTBS2

so why this error is coming when retention > duration.
