Can we calculate work center rates using vanilla advanced cost accounting?

  Can we calculate work center rates using vanilla advanced cost accounting? If yes, then does it calculate based on standard costing and how? Our requirement is to calculate rates based on standard costing. How other Pharmaceutical companies using JD edwards calculate work center rates.

 

In our company we have customized advanced cost accounting module to calculate work center rates. This customized module calculates work center rates based on departmental budgets, forecasted quantities and activities involved in organization. We use these data to calculate our driver quantities and eventually rates. In this process we use activity based costing to calculate our rates. This whole customized process is very cumbersome and we are planning to get rid of it.
