Setting max-shm-memory on Solaris 10 for database 10g or 11g, how big

I'm going to have several instances on a Solaris 10 server with 64GB of RAM.  Typically I will only have a couple instances and set max-shm-memory to 6GB.  Question is: Does max-shm-memory need to be set to accommodate each instance of Oracle?  i.e. if I had 10 instances that used 1GB SGA each would I need to set max-shm-memory to 10GB or higher?  Also, I presume that all these instances will run under one Solaris project area.  Any other configuration items I would need for Solaris to accommodate multiple instances?  Thanks Mike
